An essential part of our work is opposing government mass surveillance at all levels. Federal, State and Local.
Increasingly our attention has focused on local anti-surveillance resolutions as important tools for opposing mass surveillance.
For past few months, Restore the Fourth, ACLU of California & Northern California and Oakland Privacy have been putting together a plan to slow the expansion of mass surveillance into the local policing through a new city ordinance.
This January will be a critical time for this effort. As a result of our efforts to stop the expansion of the Domain Awareness Center, Oakland has the opportunity to be the first city in California to pass the model transparency ordinance.
